I feel passionately about helping women to breastfeed their babies successfully. I have spent many years as a breastfeeding counsellor offering help and advice about a wide range of feeding issues. So that I can help more women, with more complex issues, I need to expand my knowledge and expertise, and become a Board-Certified Lactation Consultant. This will mean I have a wider depth and breadth of knowledge, and have a more connected role within the wider community and health services. So far, I have self-funded my training, which has cost over £1,000 and required 120 hours of technical training, as well as 1,000 hours of contact time helping mothers to feed their babies.
