Our story

1st Uxbridge were one of the very 1st Scout groups that Lord Baden Powell set up by opening its doors to the young people of Uxbridge and surrounding areas in 1908. And to this date we are still a very strong troop with over 90 young people across our sections.

22 Scouts, Explorers and Volunteer Leaders have undertaken challenges and community activities to raise money so that they can attend, as well as raising funds for fun camps for those who are unable to attend for various reasons, so they too still get to have fun and learn life skills.

Funds have been raised through car boot sales, cake and ice-cream sales as well as selling crafts and collecting old clothing to turn into cash.

Why are we going?

Kandersteg International Scout Camp is the home of global scouting. Those going will get the chance to meet Scouts from around the world, they will face new challenges and face new fears. They will be helping others, learning new skills and making new friends along the way.

A note from our leaders

Our Scouts are at the heart of our local community and we want to help them take this opportunity of a lifetime. Over the last year they have been giving back to their local community as much as they can and any support is hugely appreciated to help fund this trip. All fundraising will help to make the trip as accessible as possible by lowering the overall cost per person and will be split across the group.

In addition we have ingoing costs such as Scout Hut maintenance, keeping the hut weatherproof and safe. Having had to purchase new windows following a break in, we also upgraded our alarm and CCTV as this was also vandalised.

We will also soon need new tents as well as patrol kits, these havent been replaced since before covid and are in constant use through all sections not just Scouts.
