It's been no secret to anyone who knows us this illness has turned our family life upside down. Not just for me, Rich, Lucie & Jen but the whole family.

I was a happy, healthy mum who loved family life. I had gone to university to do my degree in nursing which was a lifelong goal & was loving my time as a student nurse & looking forward to a bright future watching our gorgeous girls grow up

I'd always suffered with headaches on & off which would be severe & would last for days. They where always put down to migraine. However nothing stopped them.
Things took a turn for the worse during my second yr at uni. Eventually we where given the diagnosis of cluster headache & told this is the worst pain known to mankind.

Over the next 2 yrs things continued to get worse. I managed to finish my degree. But behind the scenes I was falling apart doing anything I could just to ease the pain for a while. Resulting in multiple hospital admissions, cardiac arrests due to high dose medication & finally brain surgery to implant a nerve stimulator.

Throughout all this I've had the suppirt of Rich & I can't begin to imagine what him & my close family have gone through watching the fall out of this incurable, untreatable illness. No child should ever have to see their mum bashing her head against a wall or crawling the floor in so much pain they can't function.

Slowly but surely things are improving & after 3 long hard years family life is slowly returning to some kind of normality. In this age of technology no one should have to suffer this amount of pain.

OUCH UK have suppirted us in so many ways it's time to give something back to allow them to continue their research into an illness that's so unknown hardly any Drs have come across it & have no idea how to treat me during hospital stays. They rely on me telling them what I need!
