Story
Red Kite Feeding Station, Llanddeusant
Est. in 2002, the Red Kites are fed daily, every day of the year in the beautiful Brecon Beacons. Visitors are provided with a fantastic opportunity to witness these majestic birds close up that were once near national extinction but are now thankfully thriving again.
The feeding station relies soley on a very modest visitor entry fee in order to cover the cost of meat for the birds and maintenance to the visitor hides. Whilst the feeding station has been closed due to the Corona Virus risk the Kites are still being fed every day and a lot of much needed maintenance and refurbishment has been carried out to the hides to make visits to the center more enjoyable when opening is allowed. Joists and beams have been replaced, new ramps and rails installed and the hides themselves have been cladded in metal sheeting so should last for years!
The center relies heavily on bank holidays and the summer season to carry them through the long winter on to Easter but with the current situation it seems unlikely that it will be open before those much needed summer months. The center has received no funding towards these repairs and no income due to the enforced closure so therefore are looking to raise £5000 towards some of the costs incurred.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this, any donation however big or small will be much appreciated.
