Weʼre raising £1,000 to help take students from Llanwern High School in Newport to Nakuru in Kenya, to volunteer in our partner school.
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Llanwern High School
Llanwern is a state school in Newport, South Wales. In 2017 we took 24 students, many eFSM or from low-income households, to Kenya to volunteer in St. Trizah's School where we made lifelong friends and got to experience something vastly different from our home lives. In 2019 we want to take a new group of students out to meet our friends in Nakuru and continue to help them.
Kenya is a country of real contrasts, with breathtaking scenery, incredible wildlife and a popular tourism industry on one hand, and extreme poverty on the other. We work in Nakuru, Kenya’s fourth largest city, where small-scale agriculture, manufacturing and tourism are the backbone of the economy. In the communities where we focus our work, the cost of an education is out of reach for many so we work with schools that have been set up by local people to give children the chance of a better future.
What we are doing...
A team of 7 staff from school will be running the 10km Rough Runner Race in Bristol on Oct 14th 2018.
