We are a Grass Roots football club based between Bristol and Bath. Our club has 13 teams covering from under 5’s to under 18’s. We welcome boys and girls from the surrounding area’s to play football and currently have over 300 children on our books. The club is totally self-funded and is managed by parents and volunteers. The teams all play in the Hanham Minor League or the Avon Youth League. The club was first established in 1976 and has made its home on the football pitches of SBL High school where we have various pitches from 5x5, 7x7, 9x9 and 11 a side.

The club has been trying now for a number of years to build its own clubhouse, somewhere we can call home. This is somewhere we can use to get changed, hold meetings and events and after a match enjoy a drink together. This has been a project for the club over the last 3-4 years, 18 months ago SBL School granted us a place we can build the clubhouse and we have signed a long term lease with them. The Club has now started the long process of Fundraising and building. So far we have arranged all the utilities needed, gained planning permission, put the base in for the building and recently ordered the outer shell for the building, this has taken a huge effort from everyone involved in the club. It has also taken a huge financial effort. So far we have spent over £42k of money which has been raised by the club. This has been through various activities and events, we have held quiz nights, auction nights, sponsored events and of course our annual tournaments. Every penny has been raised through hard work and a determination from everyone involved in this build to get it completed.

We directly affect 300 children at the moment, this is an ongoing project, and we estimate we have coached over 10000 children since we formed. That’s a lots of budding footballers we have helped hopefully who have benefited from WRFC. Football is after all the nation’s game and we feel we are doing our bit to help the next generation.
