About Love Music Hate Racism – Wakefield

Love Music Hate Racism is a volunteer‑led community group working across Wakefield District to promote inclusion, celebrate diversity and strengthen community cohesion.

Our work focuses on bringing people together through inclusive, accessible community events and cultural activity, tackling prejudice through positive engagement, and creating safe, welcoming spaces for shared expression and dialogue. We support residents of all ages and backgrounds, with particular attention to people and communities who may feel under‑represented or excluded.

In July 2024, we supported the delivery of Rave Against Racism at Beaver Works in Leeds. The event brought together hundreds of people through music and shared values, and was later featured in Rolling Stone UK’s coverage of how music is responding to right‑wing populism.

Following the success of this event, we’re keen to bring something similarly positive and impactful to Wakefield, helping to strengthen community connections and celebrate the diversity of the district.

Funds raised through this page will support the delivery of an inclusive Love Music Hate Racism community event in Wakefield, helping to cover essential costs such as venue hire, equipment, access support and event coordination. Every donation helps us keep the event accessible, welcoming and community‑focused.
