I’ve recently received confirmation that I’ve been accepted to a world-renowned summer programme at Princeton University, USA, something I never thought I would ever even apply for.

Growing up, I faced challenges that many students do not have to think about. I am estranged from my parents and have had to navigate much of my education and future planning without the support network that many young people can rely on in the past year. These circumstances have taught me resilience, independence, and determination, but they have also created financial barriers that are difficult to overcome alone.

When I received my acceptance, I was overwhelmed with excitement. Princeton is one of the world's leading universities, and this programme would give me the chance to learn from outstanding academics, meet ambitious students from around the globe, and experience an environment that I have dreamed of being part of for years.

However, the cost of attending is far beyond my means. Between programme fees, travel costs, insurance, and other essential expenses, the total cost is more than I can raise on my own in the time available.

This is more than a summer school to me. It is a chance to show myself that my circumstances don't determine my future. It is a chance to gain confidence, expand my perspectives, and make connections that could shape the rest of my life.

With personal challenges in my life, being accepted onto this programme is like being offered a doorway to possibilities I may never have dreamed of.
