Story

Loch Venachar Sailing Club has been in existence since 1969. We are based on the south side of Loch Venachar, just outside Callander, on the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National park. We are very proud to celebrate our 50th anniversary this year. As part of this we have decided to purchase the land that we have occupied since our inception. In purchasing the and we hope to ensure that we can continue to offer a range of water sports, mostly sailing, to our members, friends other organisations both locally and further afield.
Over the years we have developed a range of sailors who have went on to represent the club, Scotland and the UK, both nationally and internationally, across a wide range of groups and in a range of boat classes. We pride ourselves in the fact that we offer a range of training opportunities, to both children and adults, in a formal setting as a RYA affiliated training centre whilst also encouraging development and engagement through a wide range of informal training activities carried out by volunteers.

With our recent shift to a charity we hope to continue to provide a vital resource to our local community including local scout and school groups. Through the Sailability section we support access to water sports to a range of members who have a range of disabilities as well as working with other local groups ensuring that sailing and other water related activities are accessible to all.
As we develop even more links with our community we have recently forged a relationship with Itsgood2give charity offering access to water activities to vistors to the Ripple Retreat , a place for families of young cancer patients in Scotland, to unwind during the most challenging of times.
We think we do a good job but we think we could do an even better job if we could develop the club even more. In buying the land we hope that we can develop further our ability to give access to sailing and other water sports for all the members of our local community and further afield.
