Story

Several years ago, the much-loved Lockton Cricket Club, based between Pickering and Whitby, became one of a growing number of village cricket clubs to sadly fold.

After years of hosting nothing but sheep, a group of friends from a nearby club, some ex-Lockton players and people from the local community came together and decided to bring cricket back to this lovely old ground.

On 12th March 2019, Lockton was officially re-founded and we have been accepted into the Feversham League for the coming season. With £0 in the bank, we have begged and borrowed to secure a wicket mower, a hand roller and a few other necessities needed by all cricket clubs. But, we are looking for support from the cricket community and beyond to help with the club's rise from the ashes!

If you have any spare money to help us get set up, any donations would be hugely appreciated! We've set a hopeful target of £200, but anything we raise up to and over that amount will all go towards further restoring and improving this wonderful old club.

People say village cricket is dying. But it doesn't have to be that way. With your help, we can put one of the missing pieces back into place. Please help us restore this little club to it's rightful place in the cricketing world.
