Hello, I am Lohan Morrison, a BSc Economics student at the University of Warwick. After an enormous amount of hard work and a rigorous selection process, I have been chosen to take up a space as one of the 7 Amos Bursary students flying to New York for a summer internship this year, but, I need your help to get there!

I applied for this role not only because overseas work can be a crucial differentiator between me and other candidates in the future job market, but also because this is a huge opportunity for me to push myself out of my comfort zone. When I was younger, I was certainly one of the quieter students; however, I have worked very hard during my time on the Amos Bursary to develop myself personally and professionally. My progress was recognized and led to me being invited to various events including the 2017 Ernst & Young Black Network Annual Black Tie Ball.

I now feel completely ready to take this personal development to a much higher level. Undertaking an internship in New York is not only a unique and thoroughly amazing opportunity, it is for me, simply perfect.

I have always put in maximum effort when it comes to creating opportunities for myself, this has led me to obtain achievements including being the 2nd highest A Level achiever in my school with 3 A* grades and also securing a place on the 2018 Spring Insight Week at Barclays Investment Bank.

With your help, during my time on the New York Experience I will not only make the absolute most of all opportunities I am directly presented with, but will also seek to create plenty more for myself. Unfortunately, I have never been outside of Europe since the age of 1 and this contributes further to my hunger to take full advantage of this trip.

Moreover, for the last 3 years I have been a mentor to my younger peers primarily regarding academic issues, as I have broadened my range of experiences, I have been able to offer these students from my local community in North West London much greater guidance. My time in New York will give me a wealth of experience that I will bring back home and utilize to offer more help and support to these younger students that look to me for advice.

Although this trip is undeniably an amazing opportunity, it will simply not be possible if I am unable to raise sufficient funds to cover my flights, accommodation and living expenses. I therefore humbly ask for your help. I would be eternally grateful If you could assist me in any way to reach my fundraising target and to be one of the great supporters who allowed me to take up this life changing opportunity.
