Story
My name is Lois Marshall. In July 2017, myself and 9 others will be going to Zambia for 17 days. Everyday we will be living amongst the Zambian community, experiencing their ways of life and helping to inprove them.
While we're there, we'll be participating in the sport in action program, where they use sport as a method of teaching and bringing happiness to the community. We will be playing games with children from a very poor background in areas such as schools, churches and orphanages. We will also be teaching lessons to the children, assisting their reading, writing and English skills. Importantly, we will spend majority of our 17 days building a facility for the community. This could range from a toilet block, to a library, kitchen or class room. Our money which we raise together will go towards the facility's and equipment needed to make this successful.
In order the embark on this amazing, life changing adventure I must raise £2000. Along with the money I must raise, I'm planning on taking 1 22kg suitcase filled with donated items for the Zambian community. This could be absolutely anything ranging from old clothes, books, hygiene products, babies bottles, blankets, etc. Even winter clothes would be greatly appreciate as even in the summer months, night time temperatures hit minus degrees and early mornings have an average temperature of around 5 degrees.
Some necessities which I would massively appreciate as donations are exercise books, pens and pencils. The cost of school for the Zambian people is what we would consider inexpensive, but to them, it is a daily struggle attempting to accumulate the money to send their children to school for an education, along with equipment they need such as books and pens.
Thank you so much to everyone reading, please help to make a difference to the lives of the less fortunate. Even 50p would be a massive help,
