I've raised £5000 to Douglas Harrison’s Young Person’s Equestrian Training Fund

Douglas loved his horses and everything about them. He frequently said how was what he did ever a job when he rode horses all day and other people sat in offices! He loved it, but it’s tough and hard to get it right and he knew that.
Its a difficult industry to navigate your way through especially for young people who frequently become disenchanted with the equine world. It was Douglas’s wish that we here at NBE alongside some of our close friends start a training foundation that will support one young person a year. A bursary of one thousand five hundred pounds will be awarded to support training, qualifications or experiences that will enrich a young person’s career, whilst providing support and practical guidance to mould a future in industry in the field of their choice.
The specifics of the foundation are yet to be finalised but the aim is to award the funding in the summer of 2020. The applicants will need to submit both a written and a video application. A short list of 10 applicants will be selected to come to NBE and join us for the day to allow us to select a beneficiary for 2020.
The hope of the foundation is to offer opportunity that is beneficial and will enrich a career path even if it’s just for one young person who demonstrates a love and a way with horses.
