Story
Earlier this month Lombok was hit by a series of devastating earthquakes which have claimed over 400 lives so far and left thousands more injured and displaced. The island is in a state of emergency with a shortage of resources, including food. To add to the trauma, residents are living in a constant state of fear that futher earthquakes, or a tsunami could still be on the way. Beyond immediate relief, the local communities of Lombok and the surrounding Gili Islands rely heavily on tourism, which has all but stopped, leaving doubts overe their long-term recovery.
We are working with Talim, who hosted us in Lombok a few months ago, to provide supplies for the local communities. Prior to the earthquakes Talim already used crowd funding to improve lives in his neighbourhood, building a registered school for the local children. He is a motivated and trustworthy individual who is now looking for funding to supply resources to the displaced villages. Specifically the money will be used to send: food trucks, water, blankets, mattresses, clothes, baby milk, sarongs, tarpaulins for temporary shelters, water reservoirs and medicine.
Any small contribution you can make will make a huge difference to the people of Lombok. I can't stress this point enough, even if you only have a few pounds to spare, this can go a long way in Indonesia. We thank you in advance for your generous contributions!
