Around the day PC Keith Palmer lost his life, I was contemplating pulling out of the London Marathon due to injury for the 2nd year running having missed pretty much all the training.

I knew Keith Palmer as we served in the Royal Artillery together and he was a good friend at that time in my life, we sadly lost contact over the years.

Rather than drop out of the Marathon, I will somehow get around the course and help raise money towards the PC Keith Palmer Fund set up by the Metropolitan Police Federation which will go towards helping his family in the future.

Experiencing some pain during my 26.2 miles is nothing compared to what his family are going through and rather than drop out, I want to show the same commitment Keith Palmer showed in his role in 100 Field Regiment, The Metropolitan Police and defending Democracy and the Members of Parliament on that sad day on 22nd March 2017.
