Mitimingi is a rural area in Nakuru which has high unemployement rates and is largely impacted by the climate change affecting crop production - both these factors (amongst others) have meant that poverty impacts the majority of families in this area.

Over the years, the founders and tutor of London Swahili (Samson and Tanya Kiemo) have been amazed to see the leaders of Joy Counselling Consortium set up various sustainable community projects such as a counselling services, a shop, tailoring service, training on health promotion and disease prevention- plus more! Recently, Joy Counselling supporters have raised money and have successfully built a bore hole which has resulted in bringing water to this area- which will has made a life changing impact (pictured above).

London Swahili would like to raise money for Joy Counselling who next plan to create an irrigation drip so that the water in the village can be used to create bottled water and also green houses where fresh fruits and vegetables can be grown. This will help the community be able to grow vegetation regardless of the weather and will provide job opportunities to the area.

Our fundraising is aimed at starting the beginning stages of the project and will not cover the total cost of irrigation. As more fundraising will need to be raised at each stage of the project.
