Story
In February 2026, cadets from 2344 (Longbenton) Squadron RAF Air Cadets will take on a 24-hour flight simulator challenge as part of our 70th Anniversary Year.
Over 24 continuous hours, cadets will:
✈️ Attempt to fly an F-35B Lightning all the way around the world in a single continuous simulator flight.
✈️ Fly a Grob Tutor T1 to every operational RAF airfield in the UK, before continuing on to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.
Cadets will rotate through flying, operations, and media roles throughout the event, developing teamwork, leadership, resilience, and technical skills.
As a youth organisation, we rely heavily on fundraising to provide training, equipment, and opportunities for young people aged 12–20 from Longbenton and the surrounding area.
Funds raised will directly support:
Cadet training and development
Aviation and STEM activities
Equipment and resources for our squadron
Events and activities during our 70th Anniversary Year
Thank you for supporting local young people and helping us make this challenge possible.
