Story

A proposal has been made to close Longcraig Scout Centre at the end of this 2017 season, after 48 years of successfully providing equipment, facilities and skills training relating to a wide variety of water activities. Many of the reasons presented for this proposed closure are unfounded, and a revised and updated Business Plan is being put together which will present the case for the continuation of Longcraig as a Centre of Excellence for Water Activities for Scouting (and other youth organisations) in East and South East Scotland. This fund is being put together to support the transition process of restoring Longcraig Scout Centre as a viable and vibrant activity centre which will continue to provide it's expertise and capability for a further 50 years or so. The funding will help us through the coming winter where we need to carry out all the usual maintenance on all the boats and equipment, the building and facilities, and also to 'catch up' on some neglected or under-funded activities from the past two years or so.

In the event that these funds are not all fully utilised, any balances will be transferred as a donation to the local RNLI in South Queensferry, Scotland's busiest lifeboat station, who provide life saving and emergency cover to mariners and seafarers 365 days a year, helping to keep us all safe.
