Story
We are Longfleet Lions U11 football team and heard about the incident in Cumbria where a 10 year old girl lost her life whilst attending a football training session. Poppy Atkinson sadly passed away and another 8 year old girl was also injured.
As a football team we wanted to try and raise some money to help GT7 Football Academy in this really difficult time. We are really passionate about youth football and no child should ever go to a football training session and not return home. We wanted to be able to provide some help to the club, so they could continue to support the team that Poppy played for, or they can pass the money onto Poppys family. We know that no amount of money can stop the heartbreak that Poppy’s team mates and family must be going through but we felt we wanted to do something to let them know that we have them all in our thoughts.
Our Manager George will be walking to our football game this Sunday and then walking home after the game. This weekend we play Swanage Town & Hurston Alarch away at their ground. George will be walking over 20 miles there and back.
Any donation big or small would be hugely appreciated and we will continue to have Poppys team mates, coaches and the whole football academy along with her family in our thoughts.
