For the last four years we at Longton Central Hall have provided a free three course Christmas day meal and takeaway tea, with entertainments and gifts, open to anyone in the Community. It has grown from 30 to 120 and we have 20/30 volunteers. The local community does support it fantastically - such as a taxi firm picking people up for free. It addresses issues of isolation, disability, family separation ... and people just wanting a good old fashioned Christmas with no strings attached - or commercial interest! We serve one of the most deprived areas in the country, in an area in the bottom three or four as "the worst place in Britain to live".
