Story

Looe rifle and pistol club.

Members of Looe rifle and pistol club have been devastated this week by the news that the clubhouse has suffered an arson attack. The clubhouse will now need to be completely rebuilt. Due to it's 1930's construction being mainly of wood it was impossible to get insurance of more than just the bare minimum, although any insurance money will be gratefully received it will be far from the amount needed for the rebuild.

In 2015 the club celebrated it's centenary, it has over 40 members, male, female, able bodied and disabled with an age range from teenagers to octogenarians all of whom are very keen to get it back up and running. Three members have just been asked to trial for the county team and were very much looking forward to the challenge.

A few people have suggested that setting up this page would be a good idea so I'm giving it a go. The club will be very grateful for any donations made so thank you very much if you are making one.

Work has now started to clear the site ready for the new building. Fundraising is still very much ongoing as we still need to raise more money. For the members the new building can't come soon enough, most having not fired a gun since the arson attack back in August. Hopefully if funds allow we will be back up and running sometime in the Summer. Thank you all for your support it means so much to us.

Planning permission has now been granted so hopefully something will soon start to happen. If all goes well and we raise enough money we could possibly be reopening in the summer. Thank you to all who have donated, it's very much appreciated by all the members.

Update on what's going on, we have put in for the clubhouse rebuild planning permission which should be granted by the end of February. We are busy raising funds in several different ways to try to get the money to cover all the things we want to do. It has been decided to go a little larger with the new clubhouse as this seems the sensible thing to do. The members are all greatly missing the club especially Tom, who's up in his eighties and lives alone, twice a week he would meet his friends there for a good chat but now he's stuck at home.
