The Looe Shed Appeal
Many people are attracted to the idea of enjoying a hobby in a garden shed.
Our project aims to do the same thing collectively, delivering a range of benefits not just for participants but for many of Looe’s community.
Many of these are social. Our new Community Shed will provide a space for like-minded people, known as Shedders, to meet, relax, learn skills from each other or work collaboratively on projects.
We think there’s a particular need for this among older people, ones that led busy lives when they were working and bringing up families but might now need some help in finding new friends and a new purpose in life.
They have accumulated a lifetime of skills and knowledge and Looe Shedders will provide a way for their experience to be put to good use.
It will provide a platform for us to show how Looe Shedders can be a significant force for good in Looe.
Phase 1 of the Looe Shed Project will provide a small Community Starter Shed as the forerunner to a larger Big Shed where people can connect, converse and create.
This can also help to restore self-esteem, counter loneliness and isolation and improve health and wellbeing.
