Story

Each year the Lord Mayor of Sheffield selects charities to support during their year in office. Councillor Anne Murphy is this year's Lord Mayor, and she has chosen the following charities:

Sheffield Dementia Alliance: http://www.dementiaaction.org.uk

Sheffield Royal Society for the Blind: http://www.srsb.org.uk

Young Carers: https://www.sheffieldyoungcarers.org.uk

Artworks: http://www.artworks-sheffield.co.uk

Sheffield Renal Unit: http://www.sheffieldhospitalscharity.org.uk

In 1986 Sheffield's longest serving councillor and former Lord Mayor, Peter Price, published a guide to a walk around the entire city boundary of Sheffield. The length of the walk was some 45 miles in total, and Peter suggested that it could be completed in under 24 hours, if anyone was daft enough to want to attempt it!

This year, as Lord Mayor's Consort, it is my intention to complete the walk, in order to raise funds for the Lord Mayor's charities. It would give me great pleasure to welcome anyone who wished to accompany me on part of this epic ramble, or even foolishly for the whole event!

I would ask everyone to read about the great causes that the Lord Mayor is supporting this year, and to contribute in whatever way they can.
