Story

My name is Lorna Billingham and together with my dog Baloo, we will be walking Hadrian's Wall in May to raise money for an amazing Not For Profit called Dogs 4 Wildlife, who breed and train specialist conservation dogs to be deployed across Sub Saharan Africa in the fight against wildlife crime and rhino poaching. There is a poaching epidemic across Southern Africa and these amazing dogs are vital when it comes to the conservation and protection of these beautiful animals!

This 10 day trip, walking Hadrian's Wall is a chance for me to combine a few important parts of my life, and to use the opportunity to support a local charity, based in Carmarthenshire, doing crucial work across Africa.

Having spent my childhood there, I still feel a strong connection to South Africa. I'm also very passionate about dogs, and was able to spend over 5 years working for a dog rescue, so this charity is a perfect partner for Baloo and myself to help raise funds whilst having our walking adventure.

On a personal level, this walk really will be a massive challenge for me, as in 2007 I suffered a botched operation which left me with nerve damage and for a while bed bound.

I will be walking with Baloo, my very soppy 2 year old Doberman who has suffered his own mobility issues when he badly broke a back leg at the age of 10 months. So, it will be two slightly crooked walkers braving what Northumbria laughingly call 'Spring!'

Baloo and I are aiming to raise the £4,500 that's needed to fly one of the highly trained Dogs 4 Wildlife to Southern Africa, where they are matched up to a trained Ranger and then play a huge part in helping to protect precious Elephants, Rhinos and other beautiful wildlife from poachers.

Every penny raised will go to this very important charity... Please give what you can.
