I've raised £6000 to Help us fund our dream of becoming parents.

Our names are Rob and Lorna, we live in a village just south of Bath, Somerset. we recently moved here into our first house, in the countryside with lots of wide open spaces- a perfect place to bring up a family.
Rob and I have always dreamt of becoming parents and after trying for what feels like an eternity we’re still unable to conceive naturally.
Rob and I have 7 amazing nieces and nephews, a lot of our friends have children and all we see everywhere is women either becoming pregnant or giving birth to beautiful children.
“When you want a child that is all you will see”
They say that when you want a child that is all you see around you, pregnant women walking down the street on the way to fetch a pint of milk, new babies all over facebook with proud mothers and fathers. its true, and for those of us not lucky enough to blessed with the joy of our own, it hurts.
I used to believe that I had not become pregnant for a reason, and that when the time was right it would just happen, but many years later and still no joy...we cant just sit back and not try every option.
We’ve spent the last 8 months running various tests to ascertain the reason for this but the fertility clinic is stumped. So now we are left with the final option of IVF.
Over the last 18 months we’ve changed so much of our lives to make the perfect environment to raise a little one, we moved out of small flat and into a house with a garden and excellent local schools. We want our child to have every opportunity and the best childhood any parent could wish for.
The NHS guidelines to receive funding for IVF treatment are quite specific here in the Bath & North East Somerset CCG. These include restrictions on age, weight, & lifestyle choices.
Suffice to say I’m 34 and 7 years ago broke my back and became immobile for a long period of time, this lead to lots of physio but fortunately i’ve been able to make a partial recover. This chapter in my life has had a lasting impact, with its ongoing pain management day to day.
After having many tests, starting with blood tests to determine my cycle length and regularity, hormone tests to make sure I am ovulating and at the correct time in my cycle and that my hormones are at the correct levels.
This then led on to an internal ultrasound to check for PCOS (poly cystic ovary syndrome) which came back as clear- thankfully.
I then went onto having a laparoscopy, an operation to check for endometriosis, which they found and was then removed.
Rob did the usual test that every man would be asked to do in this situation which came back as normal.
So apart from the small amount of endometriosis the findings came back as normal and we are no further forward in our journey of becoming parents.
As you can imagine this has been a long and distressing time for us, to have all these tests and be no closer to having a baby of our own.
The next logical step for us as we cannot conceive naturally is IVF.
We need to raise six thousand pounds, this will cover a single cycle of IVF treatment.
Details of the treatment can be viewed on the Bath Fertility Clinic’s website here: Bath Fertility Clinic
We understand that times are hard and not everyone can afford to donate even a small amount, just a share of our story could really help change our lives.
Thanks for reading our story, lots of love Rob & Lorna
