Story

I started off planning a campaign for the UN Women 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence. Last year I did 16 marathons in 16 days. This year, I decided to set myself the task to do 16 swims (in the sea), which I find, personally, to be even more of a challenge. My friend LJ came for the swim, support, and solidarity on day one, and then she decided to do it with me. So we have been swimming daily, and will do for the full 16 days. Ending December 10th.

There has been anything from 1°C air days to 11°C, Sea temps of between 8-10°C so far, amazing interactions with sea life, lots of people showing solidarity, swell, wind-chop, some silky smooth swims, changing tides, and all weathers. But we persist, because this is an important issue and raising awareness and support means a lot to us.

Donations will go to Caithness and Sutherland Women's Aid (CASWA), Rape and Sexual Abuse Service Highland (RASASH), and Stepping Stones (to give folk who don't have access to therapy, due to expenses, the ability to gain access to therapy).

We are all drawn to the water for different reasons 🩵 but I am sure that we have in common that we would like the world to be a bright, happy, safe place for one another, in and out of the ocean 🌊.

If you are in a position to do so, please do donate.

Thank you,

Lorna and LJ
