Story

My name is Louisa Tighe and I am a student at the Park Community School. I am lucky to have the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to Uganda with my school to visit and volunteer at The Kira Farm Project. This is run by a local charity Amigos and aims to equip Ugandans with life skills such as farming, carpentery and dressmaking so they have a way of becoming self sufficient for themselves and their local community. Many have tragic lives before they come to the project.

I am keen to see how the project works and how it transforms lives and think that it will have a big impact on my life. The project benefits from having regular visitors as they gain revenue to continue this valuable work.

In order to go on this trip I have to fundraise the sum £1800 and I am close to my target. So far I have baked cakes, made cards, made elderflower cordial, hosted a craft event and donated the proceeds from my magazine delivery job to the cause. For my latest and hopefully last effort I am planning to cycle 100kms (about 60 miles) along the Tarka Trail. So far I have £80 in sponsor money and I would like to raise a further £100 to reach my target.

I really hope you are able to support me and this worthy cause and really appreciate all donations big or small.
