I've raised £5600 to voyage from Vanuatu to Cairns (leg 13) with eXXpedition to study ocean plastics and raise awareness.

I am lucky to have been selected to take part in eXXpeditions next round the world voyage as part of a 10 woman crew on leg 13, Vanuatu to Cairns, studying ocean plastics and raising awareness of the problem. We will be sailing around 1,300 nautical miles to study plastics both in the ocean and on the shore and feed into current research through the University of Plymouth. I am raising money to fund the voyage and my travel. I will also be offsetting my carbon from the flights mitigate the detrimental impact of flying.
eXXpedtion aims to ‘make the unseen seen’ through connecting people and informing them of the issues of plastics and toxins, to give a range of people the opportunity to collect data and record the findings both scientifically and through film documentation to enable global change. eXXpedition also celebrates the role of women in science, technology and sailing and aims to break down stereotypes and empower women to have a role in informing people of their everyday choices and support global action for a cleaner environment.
I am keen to make contact with schools and other education providers to help share my experiences on my return from the voyage. If you are a school or a small business who is interested in sponsoring me then please get in touch.
