Story
Dancercise Community School for Performing Arts, established in 1990 to provide a fun and caring environment for children and adults to explore the Arts. Our busy Musselburgh classes began in 1998 and continue to run twice weekly. We also run classes in Edinburgh, are available for one of sessions or contracts and run Birthday parties for all ages. We keep our fees affordable while offering our students the opportunity to sit examinations/medals, participate in many performances and attend trips and competitions all over the UK.
Dancercise is a fully inclusive School and we never turn anyone away. Our pupils range from age 3 years old to adult. Our classes incorporate many different genres of dance such as ballet, tap, modern, acro, disco, highland, cheer, hip hop, contemporary and many more. We also study drama and vocal arts.
The dancers are encouraged to participate in many performances throughout the year and are given the opportunity to take examinations with recognised organisations and also be a part of medal sessions. We have a competition team of 40 dancers who have competed all over the UK, Blackpool, Mablethorpe, Manchester and Glasgow to name only a few. Many of our competitors have been involved in National Finals and we have a number of National Titles.
We have run in Community Centres and Schools for the last 27 years but as we have expanded we have needed more hall time which is constantly rising in price. It would help a great deal if we could rent our own space which would be our school base and we could have the equipment to hand such as mats and music that we currently trail around our different venues. To maintain our Community links we would continue to hold our classes in the school and community centre's where we began 27 years ago. However having our own studio with mirrors would enable us to put on more classes and offer specialised classes for children with additional needs.
