Story

For the past 4 years, the Give a Dog a Bone charity has been supporting the over 60s to afford a rescue pet companion - tackling loneliness for the individual and homelessness for the animal ❤️

On the 1st December, we took the keys to a small unit in Shawlands, Glasgow.

In January, we plan to open our doors to kindness and launch our 'Companionship in the Community' project, by offering a small space where retired people can drop in with, or without their dog, for a cup of tea and a chat.

Some of the activities we are investigating at the moment are:

Group dog walks; Meet the rescue animal sessions; Health checks with an Occupational Therapist and subsequent 1-2-1 and group sessions with an OT; Yoga for Seniors, and a Pet Food Bank for people who need help to feed their pet.

All activities will be free.

The aim of the community space is to reach retired people in the area, and beyond, to give them an anchor in their week and a place where they are welcome and someone will be pleased to see them.

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS PROJECT ❤️😇❤️
