    Story

My mum Christine is now a pensioner, she has made herself a prisoner in her own home for years now, but this has been brought on by circumstances completely beyond her control. Her story is one of sadness on a grand scale. Abused from a very young age by her tyrant father, having gone through a tough adult life, and the loss of her husband (my dad) in 1995 has taken it's toll to the extreme. She turned to alcohol to help her through the dark days and nights. And as anyone will know who has dealt with a person with this problem, it is no easy task. Now old age is also creeping up on her and her health is in a steady decline, blackouts, falls, and pneumonia. She is often taunted by the local kids who hurl abuse at her, she has been mugged on the street more than once, and has recently been robbed yet again, this time including all her house keys, cash, bedding, clothes, pillows and basically anything they could get their hands on. On the previous occasion it was £1500 from her bank account. She is listed as a vulnerable person with the police, and has been for some time, they have said she is terrified of of these people returning to do it again. But fear prevents her from signing a statement against them ( She knows who it was) The the ambulance crew who came to treat her have said it it the worst case they've seen in 10 years of this kind of crime. Her home is in a state of disrepair as she will not let anyone in to carry out repairs, maintenance or decorating, fearful of anything and everyone that moves. I have only just acquired a key for the first time in years.

Her boiler no longer produces enough hot water for a bath, she is currently using a kettle and bowl to "bucket bathe", the heating does not work properly, her shower is broken, the bed she sleeps in is over 30 years old, she is in real dire straits. Me and my family are doing what we can to persuade her to move to sheltered accommodation and get her the things she needs but she is struggling to accept change, and currently has not the strength to entertain a move. Social services were really no help at all, the excuse being the issue surrounding her alcohol addiction. Myself and my family have had the locks of the house changed as the first priority to make the house secure, and I've got stand free heaters as a temporary measure untill the boiler can be repaired and given her shopping etc all that I can literally afford at the moment, but I still have so much more to do to make her at least comfortable till we can get her moved if at all.

What I'm asking is if you can see your way to help, at all, in any way possible. Any donations whether in cash or literally anything that may help, warm clothing such as jumpers/coat/pj's size 12/14, slippers, warm socks, dressing gown, pillows, bedding, second hand shower, a double bed with mattress, a second hand sofa/chairs....or simply make a cash donation if you can, which will be going straight towards a new boiler/heating system. I am but one person....but with the help of others who are kind hearted and generous I can achieve so much more.

My battle is a long and hard one, please please please from a daughter in so much pain... I beg you to look into your heart and do something that will forever have me in your debt. I bless you all in advance for reading. Thank you Louise x
