Story
Polperro Football Club
The Club are in the process of applying for grant funding to renovate the heavily vandalised top clubhouse as a changing block suitable for local groups, as well as the football club. They are trying to establish a youth team, as they don't currently have one, and the current changing facilities opening into a licensed bar obviously aren't ideal. They also need bigger and better changing facilities if they are to gain promotion further up the FA pyramid.
The other part of the plan is to knock out the existing changing rooms in the bottom clubhouse to provide a large hall/community facility for all to use, which is badly needed in the Killigarth/Brent area of the village.
To help raise these much needed funds, on the 9th July two of the current first team players will be launching themselves out of a plane at 10,000 feet, with only a parachute to save them!
First team captain Dave Gilbert, who has represented the club for 18 seasons will be joined in the skydive by his young nephew, 18 year old, Tim Ryan.
Therefore, Louise Bird and Vicky Gilbert will try to complete a 3.2 mile swim from Port Isaac to Port Quin as part of 'The Great Cornish Swim', supporting Dave and Tim with their football club. A feat they thought was relatively easier than a skydive six months ago. However, during their training over the last six months, enduring freezing sea temperatures, wild seas, rip currents and looking ridiculous in plastic swim hats, they are beginning to wonder if they have chosen the easier option!
We really hope you can support this project and help provide a facility for the future generations of Polperro.

7 years agoWow, thank you everyone for your fantastic support. We finally completed our challenge over the bank holiday, and we were rewarded with flat, calm seas, hot sunshine and dolphins. An amazing experience! Polperro football club have established their first under fourteen youth team, and with your help are well on their way to raising enough funds to convert the top clubhouse for them and the young people of Polperro.

7 years agoThank you everyone for your overwhelming support. As some of you may know the weather has not been very kind this year, and our three mile swim was cancelled due to unsafe sea conditions. However, we did complete a one mile swim, and are currently waiting for sea to calm down so that we can complete 3.2 miles with Lucy Brown as our safety boat!. All else fails, we are booked to complete a 5k from Polkerris on the 16th September. We promise that we will complete this challenge, even if we have to swim inside Polperro harbour! Thank you again x
