Story

Hello my name is Karen and I'm very proud to say that my son Louis has been selected to represent the UK in 2019 at the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA. I'm fundraising for his trip there and to also support scouts from poorer countries who otherwise would not be able to attend. We have lots of fundraising activities planned to help us reach our goal.

What is the World Scout Jamboree?

The 24th World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) in 2019 is the world's biggest scouting event, which will be attended by 45,000 scouts from across the globe. Hosted at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, West Virginia, the camp will offer chances to learn about different cultures and discuss real world problems and conservation. This 24th World Scout Jamboree is unique because it is a team effort by Scouts Canada, Asociación de Scouts de México, and the Boy Scouts of America.

“World Scout Jamboree is above all an educational event that brings together the world’s young people to promote peace and mutual understanding and to develop leadership and life skills.” WSJ official website .

Why do I need to fundraise?

The cost of travelling to and attending the Jamboree has to be met by fundraising. The funds raised will also help Scouts based in less fortunate places in the world to attend the Jamboree and benefit from the experience.

I am very thankful for any donations made, your support in raising the money needed to pay for this amazing trip to the World Scout Jamboree 2019 means a lot to me.
