Story

My little sister found out she had an invasive breast cancer in September 2017. Her daughter turned 1 year old just a week after this. After the diagnostic, she went through all the pain and grief of difficult treatments, the emotional and psychologic weight of living with such a terrible illness, and the loss of her breast.

These were months and months of plain agony and worry for me too, as I tried to manage my own family in France, and support my sister as much as I could in Holland. On the day of her operation, I decided I had to do something to turn such an awful moment of our lives, into something good. And what better way to do that, than to support others who go through similar battles.

On August 11th I will be starting walking The Portuguese Way, from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela. This will be a moment for me to reflect and overcome the difficult months that I went through, watching my sister so sick, but especially to raise funds to help other women, who like my sister, are battling cancer.

I will be walking over 650km, by myself, and hope that this adventure will inspire others to believe that love heals everything, and even the worse moments of our lives, can be turned into triumphs when we take the time to help others.
