Hi I am planning to start up a small family business looking after happy hens and to supply free range eggs to all the local residents in my community. From a very young age I have had a strong passion for keeping hens. Last year I got 20 hens and made a small chicken coop with a large patch of land at the back of my garden. It was amazing every day I would collect the fresh eggs and sell them to the neighbours to cover the cost of keeping then clean and healthy as I had to give them fresh laying pellets, food and water every day. I also had to keep them warm in the winter and cool in the summer which was quite costly to do also. I would have all the kids round in the garden as they love to keep the hens happy by plying with them. Unfortunately I had to give them away to a local farm as there was a property being renovated at the back of my house and due to all the brick dust and mess I had to give up keeping them as it was not good for their health.
Hopefully once I have raised enough funds to start up I will be supplying all the local resident an community free rang eggs on a daily basis or when they need them for a small cost that will be cheeped then all the shops. The eggs will be delivered to the people fresh and boxed up.
Keeping hens means a lot to me as I have grown up with chickens, hens and other pets in the family. I have always found them to be great companions. If i raise the funds to set up my small hen farm the funds will be going the help rents some land at the local horse stables and the build enough shelter for 1000 hens. The shelter will have to have heating and air conditioning installed as well as having enough coops for all the hens to lay their eggs. The money will also go towards setting up an electric fence to keep the hens safe when they are grazing. Also to set up small storage space to keep all hay, food and packaging for all the eggs to be sold to cover the running cost of keeping then.Eggs not sold will give to a local soup kitchen
