Story
MPI's Building and Property team will be jumping in to the Wellington harbour mid winter to raise money and awareness for mental health. One in six adults have been diagnosed with a common mental health disorder at some point in their lives, this includes depression, bipolar and anxiety. Mental health disorders as a group is the third-leading cause of health loss which also includes death!
The charity we have decided to raise money for is a local charity called Kites who provide buddies, a peer support service that encourages people who have gone through similar experiences to come and talk to 'peers' who are currently experiencing mental health difficulties. Talking helps, especially to someone who has gone through the same or similar experience.
As a team, our goal is to raise awareness and let people know there is always someone out there who will listen and be supportive and by doing this we would like to raise as much as we can for buddies support service.
