Story

Cycling the C2C to attend the World Scout Jamboree

Hi,

My name is Lucia Samson and I am 14. I am raising funds to be able to take part in and to represent the UK, along with my Buckinghamshire group "50 Bucks", in the 24th World Scout Jamboree , which will be held on 22nd July – 2nd August 2019 at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, USA.

I am trying to raise 1200 pounds, which is a third of total individual contribution to be able to take part in the Jamboree. Part of the money will go towards enabling other Scouts in less fortunate countries in the world to be able to attend the event. The World Scout Jamboree is an amazing international gathering of Scouts, enabling young people from all over the world to come together and learn new skills, develop confidence, discover new friends beyond borders.

To do this, my dad, Boris, and I are going to undertake a 140 mile cycle ride from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, Coast to Coast, or C2C.

We will start our journey in Whitehaven, Cumbria on the west coast, and finish in Tynemouth on the east coast. It is a fantastic cycling challenge through fabulous landscapes! We will do this massive cycle in 3 days, stopping in campsites overnight. The starting day of our adventure is Friday 17th of August, and we hope we will finish it on Sunday 19th of August.

Thank you for reading my page!
