    Story

Hello , I'm Lucy Falle, the Founder of Jersken - a not-for-profit organisation founded to provide a home and care for underprivileged children in Machakos County, Kenya.

I've set up this page because I urgently need your help to keep Jersken's Little Angels Home running through the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Government has issued advice to practice social distancing and as such we cannot operate our charity shop and receive donations in Jersey.

I will close the charity shop from Wednesday 25 March until further notice.

It's so important for me and the wider Jersken family to continue to maintain our Little Angels home, at least for the next six months.

Reaching our £4,000 target will help us:

    - pay the wages for the three members of staff at our children's home for six months

    - provide food for the 22 children for six months

    - put in place Coronavirus safety measures and run our home for six months.

Here's a bit more about how Jersken operates in normal circumstances:

Jersken raises funds to provide care for 22 orphaned and underprivileged children - our Little Angels- in Kenya. We raise funds by running a charity shop in St Clement's Road, Jersey. At the charity shop, we receive donations of unwanted secondhand goods from local well-wishers, which it sells on for re-use or upcycling.

Jersken’s Little Angels Home in Kenya provides a home for 22 children whose livelihood is 90% funded by the upcycling activities in our shop in Jersey.

Our charity shop is run 100% by volunteers in Jersey, and 3 paid staff at our children's home in Kenya.

I am so proud of how far the charity has come, 2020 is our sixth year in operation. It would be a terrible day to see this charity stop providing for our children; they rely on Jersken for all of their needs.

    Thank you
