Story
I was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer in 2023 without any symptom. At the time of diagnosis my cancer had spread to my spine, pelvis and neck. Lobular breast cancer is hard to diagnose as it doesn't generally present as a lump and there is currently no specific treatment for it despite ILC being the second most common breast cancer.
I am going to be walking 22km on July 25th to raise money for The Lobular Moon Shot Project. The 22 represents 22 people diagnosed daily with ILC. This will be challenging for me but I am determined to help raise some funds for a cause that could help save my life.
The Lobular Moon Shot Project was set up in 2023 to get Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer the research funding needed, so the biology of the disease can be much better understood. This would be a vital next step to getting the specific treatment needed for ILC to improve outcomes. As well as fundraising activities, the Lobular Moon Shot Project seeks to galvanise political support to ensure vital research funding is made available by Governments, specifically for ILC.
