Introducing my fundraising challenge… to celebrate 100 Years of Rover Scouts across Europe.

I am running 100 miles in June… as many of you know the only things I run for would be away from danger or towards cake- Running is not a strength of mine…

On the 21st of July, I will fly out to the Netherlands leading a Patrol of 8 Network and Explorer scouts to share the amazing Roverway experience with hundreds of others from all over Europe. Our patrol made up of 2 from Warwickshire, 2 from Nottinghamshire and 4 from Devonshire. A camp that involves supporting communities in the Netherlands and promoting scouting. Experiencing scouting from different cultures and countries. And gaining skills and knowledge to support scouts back in Nuneaton when I return.

My challenge… 21 days 100 miles to celebrate 100 years of Rovers.

Every day I will run somewhere different and attempt to notice new things every single day… So tune into my blog and on twitter and Facebook to see my awful attempts at running and to see if I can actually pull it off… If you would like to join me for a run/ walk very fast/ run walk run… that would be great… get in touch!!!

It would be fantastic if you would like to sponsor me to do this challenge, the funds will help to support me to attend Roverway 2018. My aim is to take time to challenge myself to try something new to take in the world at a slower pace and be more intune with myself. A proportion of all funds raised will be gifted to my local scout group 11th Nuneaton for supporting me on my scouting journey, to support more resources for Mental Health Awareness. As scouting strives forward, we aim to support young people in all aspects of life.

'Roverway 2018 is an incredible European adventure for all 16 – 22 year olds. Hosted by Scouting Nederland and organised by the European Scout Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

The UK Scout Contingent will be away in the Netherlands from 21 July to 2 August 2018 – this includes a 2-day pre-event in Amsterdam before heading to the Opening Ceremony of Roverway on the 23 July. Over 3,000 participants (aged 16 – 22) from over twenty countries will participate in Roverway.

The participants will be divided into UK Patrols of 6-8 ahead of the event. They will be encouraged to meet regularly, take part in practice camps and gain camping skills in addition to a Nights Away permit for Patrol Leaders.'
