I have volunteered on a weekly basis for over a year at the Soup Bowl and have seen at first hand the great work that CCTW do for the homeless and those in need in Tunbridge Wells. At the soup bowl we provide a meal, an opportunity to talk/seek help or to simply sit round a table with others and see familiar friendly faces serving the food. We hope to be offering a Christmas Meal again this year. During the time I have been volunteering we have been delighted to see several of our guests gain housing and get 'back on their feet', sadly we also see those who, for whatever reasons (often addiction related), have been less fortunate. Any money raised will go towards buying food and some essential toiletries (where possible showers are offered).

Over the coldest months the CCTW Winter Shelter provides 12 much needed beds for those otherwise sleeping rough. The shelter is provided in church halls, moving from one location to another. I help move beds/equipment and deliver food donated by Pret a Manger. An army of volunteers do shifts through the nights, setting up, providing an evening meal, talking with the guests, providing breakfast, packing up beds, washing bed linen etc. Without funds for food and equipment this invaluable resource would not be available and sadly more individuals would be forced to sleep rough in often very cold if not freezing conditions.
