Story

In 2019 me and about 40 students from my school signed up for the India trip:

In India we will be learning about sustainability, globalisation, water resources, Tibetan culture, medicine, Fair Trade and enterprise, women’s empowerment and the protection of endangered culture.

For example we will be visiting the Amritsar’s Golden Temple to learn about India’s history, culture and World Religions. We will also be volunteering to make food for the pilgrims at the temple.

We will learn about Indian culture, food, and enjoy a Hindi language lesson! Visit renowned Buddhist monasteries, meet the Lamas, learn about Buddhism, and how to practice mindfulness in our daily lives.

Here are a few places we will be visiting:

A Tibetan Children’s village School which educates 3,000 students most of which are orphans or refugees from Tibet, Tong Len where we will be learning about improving health and education in slums and examine issues surrounding Secular Ethics, we will meet the founder of Dolls4Tibet who will teach us about Fair trade, enterprise development, women‘s empowerment and social integration. We will also visit a local primary school and Aghmanjar Mahadev Hindu Temple learning about the temple and the relion, and many more!

I would be very thankful for any and every donation given to help me fund this trip! So far i have already raised over £800 (January 2018 to May 2018) and have many fundraiding events planned but my overall total cost of the trip is £3560 and all of it needs to be fundraised. As an additional cost to the trip I have paid £27.50 to be able to gain my ASDSAN award by doing this trip which would be a massive help in the future.

Thank you, Lucy
