Story

I am trying to raise money for Cooper. Any donations are greatly appreciated a small donation will help my motivation and push me to achieve.

About Cooper

Cooper enjoying messy play.

Cooper is a lovely 3 year old boy who is always happy smiling however life is sometimes very difficult for him because he has a rare condition which will not improve and in time it will get worse. He has very weak muscles which means he is unable to sit up, talk, eat or mobilise. He requires full support to do all the things he loves. When he is being given support he is like any other 3 year old boy he likes to watch the ipad, go on the trampoline or the swing and listen to music. He has a tracheostomy which requires regular suctioning to prevent him having breathing difficulties which is an important safety aspect when caring for Cooper. He also has displaced hip joints , as he becomes older adaptations need to be made to his home to allow him to enjoy his everyday life in a safe environment.

What we would like to do for Cooper -

As Cooper becomes older he is already very tall and is a dead weight when carrying him he therefore, will not be able to be carried around the house to enjoy his everyday life. Shortly it will become unsafe for Cooper and for those caring for him. I am aiming to raise money towards crucial house adaptations which means he will be able to carry on enjoying everything he currently loves. Coopers bedroom needs major adaptations so he can grow older safely, a few of the things he requires is a ceiling track hoist, wider doorways for wheelchair access, ramps to the doorways to get in and out easily and a rising bath.

The challenge for me:

I want to push myself beyond my comfort zone to raise as much money as possible. I enjoy caring for Cooper and assisting him to do all the things he loves. Although i would consider myself to be relatively fit running is something i have only just started doing and find very difficult. I have been training for a few months now and can comfortably run 7 miles anything further than that feels like physical and mental torture.

Challenege 1

On September the 9th i am doing the great north run i am aiming for under 2 hours but i will be happy to just finish. Next year i am then going to push myself even further.

Challenge 2

I will be competing in the Great Stirling Run on 28th April 2019 this is a full marathon, this will mean a lot of training over the winter months and into 2019. Training so far is going well. I have competed in the 5k race for life and the Gateshead 10k. Whilst stood at the start line for both races i was questioning my sanity, but at the finish line i felt great. I have a long way to go but with the spur of knowing i am raising money for the lovely Cooper it will give me a push to train and compete at my best. Keep telling myself 'You can do anything if you try hard enough and put your mind to the test'.

Running on a very hot summers day- Pain in my face.

With the help of people that may or may not know me any donation will be greatly received. Thank you in advance. I will keep you posted on my training progress. Wish me luck xx
