Story
On the 17th February Lucy was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma.
We were sent to The RVI that day where our life turned into a roller coaster of emotions, appointments, information, we felt helpless and didn't know how to cope with what we had been told.
As a parent you never expect to be told your child has Cancer you go into complete panic and look for someone to fix it.
That was four months ago but from that day on we have been looked after in so many ways by the brilliant staff at the Teenage Cancer Unit of which we would have never survived the last four months intact.
As a family you have to spend a lot of time on the day ward and the Teenage Cancer Unit.
Long hours while receiving treatment.
Children can become unhappy depressed and demoralised.
The unit does not just look after the children medically they look after them mentally, children from all ages get the chance to do things to motivate and try and cheer them up while they are undergoing treatment.
Nothing is too much trouble, anything they can do to help they will do their utmost to achieve it.
Lucy wants to give something back to help this continue.
Any donations we collect from the Race for Life and any future events Lucy wants to do will be donated to the RVI Teenage Cancer Ward and Teenage Cancer Trust.
Families don't need to worry about anything other than getting their children well so any funds we raise will help them do this.
Please help with as little or as much as you can afford we will be so grateful and it will be going to a very worthy cause.
Love Lucy
