Story

On the 23rd/24th of June some friends and I will be cycling from Penryn College to Land’s End and back again, which will be around 100km, to fundraise for their trip to the Pyrenees, as part of the Leading Edge scheme run by our school, from the 12th to the 21st of July. I am aiming to raise over £100 pounds to aid the expense of the trip.

The Leading Edge scheme consisted of many different challenges including working as a team, expressing my passion and being interviewed about why I chose to be part of the scheme. Which took place internally and outside of school at Swanpool with Elemental UK and they went up to the Brecon Beacons for a weekend of walking and forming stronger bonds with each other.

There were many students at first who signed up for the scheme, and as the challenges passed by the teachers whittled it down to a final 12 to take to the Pyrenees to take on an international challenge. This challenge is made up of walking up the mountains including Benasque where base camp will be, Anneta Possette and La Forqueta. The team and I will be staying in mountain huts overnight. On the first day after our travels we will be taking on a half day training walk in preparation for our 4 day expedition. Also, we get to spend a couple of days in Barcelona to learn about the culture in a very different place to where we live ourselves.
