I've raised £2045 to fund Luke Godfrey's trip to Ghana in April 2020. During the trip he will go to schools, to help teach and also build new facilities.

In April 2020, I have been selected to be part of a group of Scouts and Explorers to go to Ghana on a life changing trip with Staffordshire County Scouts. Our trip as a county will be for two weeks in April 2020, visiting and living in the small rural town of Woe, in the Volta region of Ghana. Our main motive for this trip is too improve the lives of the unfortunate school kids, and less fortunate schools in Woe. here we will be doing a variety of tasks, such as building both brand new classrooms and facilities or repairing and upgrading existing buildings for the children benefits to help their experience in school. Also in the schools we visit, we will be teaching the pupils ourselves, whilst also lending our assistance to the teaching staff there as well, subjects such as Maths, Art and other creative subjects will be the main focus to help enrich the kids learning with an aim to make the lessons as interactive and creative as possible.
As well as these amazing experiences we will gain from giving something to the schools, we will be staying right in the town, where we will integrate ourselves into the community while there, where we will be learning and first hand experiencing first-hand the Ghanaian culture and how they live day by day.
In addition to the experiences we will be enriched with in the schools and the town, we will also be taking a weekend break, to visit a protected monkey sanctuary where we can feed bananas to Mona and Black-and-white Colobus monkeys, and then the next day we will be choosing between either a rainforest trail to Wli Falls or an early morning hike up Mount Afadjato. Mt Afadjato is Ghana’s highest peak!
As mentioned before the schools out in Ghana, aren't gifted with resources like we are in England, so the money raised will go towards the cost of the trip and also towards resources that we can buy and take out, and provide the schools with resources that can benefit their teaching not just while we are there, but after too.
To raise £2,045, I am fundraising through multiple initiatives, also your support will be invaluable to me, there any donations will be gratefully received.
Yours In Scouting
Luke Godfrey
