    Story

I am very lucky to be chosen to go on an Explorer Scout expedition in July 2018 to Matsapha in Swaziland, Africa, to help build and furnish the Malibeni Youth Centre.

The Centre will be a really important place to which local young people can come to join in activities that develop their physical and mental wellbeing, where they can learn and interact, as a way of keeping them off the streets and out of trouble, and ultimately helping them to find work.

I will be helping with building work, tree planting, painting, fetching water and also helping with a food relief programme for local children.

I would be very grateful for any donations to help me take part in this amazing opportunity and to play some small part in improving the lives of youngsters living within this community.

To say thank you I plan to send all donors a set of postcards of the watercolour sketches I intend to paint in any spare time I have when I am there.

    Many thanks
    Luke

Thanks to generous holiday makers I collected £57.67 in donations at Stansted Airport - many thanks to the airport for letting us collect, and to Simon for organising it.

Scouts and watercolour painting are big interests of mine. I have been in Scouts since I was six years old (as a Beaver) and was very pleased to achieve the Chief Scout's Gold Award last year. I love doing sketches and paintings of the places I travel to.
