Weʼve raised £6,056 to help raise funds for The Luke Wheaton Legacy Trust which will be used to support and inspire young apprentices fulfil their dreams

Luke Wheaton was a much loved son, friend and student at Bradley Stoke Community School who sadly lost his life in the tragic accident at Avonmouth in 2020. He had just started as an apprentice for Wessex Water and his legacy will live on in the work we do to help support young people in their quest to find work through apprenticeships as well as providing equipment for those who need a helping hand.

Thank you to all of the Year 9 students who gave up their time on the final day of school to help Mr Young complete the staff charity car wash. We washed over 30 cars in the bright sunshine - it was very difficult not to have the occasional water fight to keep cool! Thank you to you all for your very generous donations - I think we raised over £300!

This afternoon saw the return of the much loved and highly anticipated staff v P16 football match in memory of Luke Wheaton. The P16 team consisted of current Year 12 students studying at BSCS Sixth Form as well as former team mates from the very successful Year 11 football team of 2019-20, of which Luke was an ever-present. The P16 team started strongly, but were ultimately undone by the experience and guile of the old teachers (ably assisted by some highly competent former students!) and a hat-trick from Mr Randall. The final score was 4-2.

Thank you to you all for the support shown during the Year 11 BGO v PRY football match which was played in such good spirit on Wednesday. We witnessed a 10 goal thriller which finished in a nail-biting penalty shoot out - eventually won by BGO! We were entertained at half time with some 'special guest cross-bar challenges' - the safest place to sit to watch this was on the crossbar! In total there was over £375 raised from both the Year 13 student v staff football and the Year 11 BGO v PRY match played in Luke's honour. Thank you everybody xx
