    Story

    Hello all!

My name is Charlotte and I‘m eager to share our story with you.

I currently work for a charity called B-Inspired. B-Inspired works in partnership with the Princes Trust which is a national recognised youth charity that helps young people aged 11 to 30 get into jobs, education and training.

My role is to create a project that focuses on the social impact for young people by providing them with the option of unpaid work experience to better themselves.

After spit balling some ideas with my mentor we decided on a social enterprise - perfect for the task in hand! I have recruited a group of young people who have been unsuccessful in gaining employment for many different reasons. However they are engaged and excited to be part of this new project. :) More so for that fact that we live in a rural area and there isn't really anything in our sleepy little town of Melton Mowbray to bridge the gap between education and employment. In our mind there is a want and a need for this project.

We all have different experiences and skills to bring to the project. We have had group meetings and discussions to give a good understanding as a group of how to make this successful.

    Phase one- Fundraising.

Our aim is to raise £500 to achieve our goals. We considered a number of options on how best to fundraise.

At the moment we are selling bric-a-brac donations kindly received from a company called Access Generation who work in partnership with the Leicestershire Princes Trust . We have dates in the diary to do bag-packing in our local Morrisons supermarket. Also this Just Giving page and the generous people of the UK! :)

    Phase 2- Products.

The product of choice, agreed by the group, is organic skin care products such as bath bombs, lip balm and soap. We have chosen this as young people now have a better understanding and passion for looking after our own selves, animals and the planet. Once we have sufficient capital the products will be created and sold. The social enterprise will be self sufficient and continue to provide young people with the opportunity to better their life and employability skills.

    Phase 3- End Goal.

Our end goal is have a small established brand that helps provide the young people who have been engaged and passionate from the start with a job role. Most importantly to maintain the social enterprise part of this project by providing the chance for young people to improve themselves.

A lot of people believe CVs are relevant, but there is so much more to our generation of young people then a piece of paper. We need to give them a chance to shine!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story 😊
