Story
I wasn't going to set one of these pages up, my intention when I shared Luna's story was to just share her memory and let everyone know how loved she was and how she touched all of us in the short 6 weeks my parents had her.
The short version of Luna's story is this:
She was 3.5 years old when my parents rehomed her, they were her 5th home. She came to work with myself nearly every day and had terrible separation anxiety which of course is to be expected. In Luna's best interests, due to the fact that she had suffered a phantom pregnancy and possibly more than once, my parents decided it would be best to spey her. Luna went to the vet Monday morning and was home Monday evening. Tuesday night went downhill and by Wednesday ended up with the specialist vet which we were told was touch and go as to whether she would even make the hour journey. The following day she was scanned and operated on with a 50/50 survival rate but it was found she had severe pancreatitis. My dad was devastated, we all were and we just wanted her to get better so he instructed the vet to do what they had to do regardless of the cost. From here Luna just continued to go downhill. Her pancreas was grey not pink which meant it was dying, her kidneys were failing and by the Friday evening her lungs were starting to fail too. My dad and I made the heart wrenching hour journey to be with Luna while the vet put her to sleep as we couldnt bare to let her be on her own when she had been abandoned so to speak throughout her life and that is where her story ends.
However, my dad is now left approximately with a £3000 vet bill additional to what the insurance pays, if they pay. So I set this up in the hopes that even if we could raise just a small amount of the cost it will help ease the strain of the bill that was hoped to save this little girls life. We are all completely devastated and heartbroken but we tried our best for her. Life is just so cruel at times.
